Karen Wrighton – My Yoga Journey
My yoga journey began in December 2018 when I was experiencing a lot of anxiety which is really not like me. I wanted to try something that would be calming and also a form of exercise that I could do regularly and stick with.
I found Reena and joined the Beginners Course. This was a great starter for somebody who has never done yoga before and gave me the basic understanding of the positions and background into yoga. The small group was perfect for beginners and Reena made you feel at ease and spent time with you to explain the benefits that yoga provided.
I enjoyed the Beginners Course and once I had completed it I began to attend the weekly classes to carry on my practise.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Reena managed to get us Online and I now attend the classes this way. I used to look forward to these online classes and the bit of normality and peace they brought to me at a very strange time for everyone.
I have been doing yoga for 3 years now and I never miss a week other than for holidays. Yoga has made me feel calmer and stronger within myself. My initial reasons for joining were met very quickly, along with many other benefits including inner peace, muscle strength and calm. I still find it a challenge but have also improved in many of the postures.
Reena is an extremely good teacher and combines her classes to include breathing exercises and chanting which adds to the relaxed feel. The retreats are also something I look forward to in a beautiful setting and where it’s great to be with people again in a class.
Yoga is a part of my life now and I can’t imagine not practising!
